Chios

We got to Chios a few days ago and it was exactly what I needed. I was starting to really miss home and get a bit stressed. I got to this island and straight away felt relaxed. It was so cruisy and really pretty. The water was that really nice deep bluey green and it was warm! We stayed at a nice hostel which had a kitchen. This was very exciting as we dont have a kitchen in Turkey and I have missed cooking. I dont think we even used it except to heat up leftovers, but it was nice having the option. We hired bikes one day for ony like 6 euro which was great and just rode around the island. We stopped every now and then for a swim and to have lunch. It was a lot of fun and much cooler than walking as we got a wind. When I was in Thailand last year we hired some motor bikes and at one stage my chain came of and I had to put it back on. Well guess what... Yep my chain came of here too. So I had to put it back on which was actually really hard as there was a thick guard over the chain, so I got really greasy hands and am still trying to get it off.
I found it cool that all the different suburbs of the island have different things that distinct them from each other. The one we were in was the brown brick district and had lots of brick walls along the roads etc. I really liked this as it gave each place a lot of character.
These are the brown bricks, pretty cool.
This was a place you could swim off, but it was quite close to the real ocean and a bit deep. We started swimming from closer in and than tried to get to it, but I was too scared as it was deep and lots of sea weed. I find it really strange that I am more scared of the ocean now compared to when I was younger.
I saw these orange capsicums and like all orange things they made me laugh. I dont think we have these back home, guess they dont let them ripen as much or its a complete different kind.
Allthough this photo makes the pasta look pretty bad, I had to put it on here. This was some of the best pasta I have ever had and there was so much. We were very excited that we could take the rest home and that we had a microwave to re heat.
On our way over Dara had said oh I hope we see Dolphins and we luckily saw them on our ferry back. One person in the middle of the ferry had said oh look and everyone swarmed to the side they were on. Not sure if the guy who saw them first even got a close look, next time he'll keep it to himself.
